Davenport Hotel Coffeecake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 2
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Topping:
  • 1 cup walnut, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer, or using a hand mixer. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla.
  • Gradually, add dry ingredients. Mix until batter is smooth. Butter a deep 9" round cake pan.
  • Combine all topping ingredients and sprinkle half of the mixture over the batter. Cover with the rest of the batter. Sprinkle with remaining topping. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
